Community Service

Sepia Design Consultants Limited believes in giving back to the community through participation in various community improvement workshops, planning charettes and creation of pro bono prototypes of facilities that have the potential to improve the community.

ENHANCE HONG KONG

Planting seeds for community change

Launched in January 2020, ENHANCE.HK is an independent curated creative platform to express ideas that have the potential of improving the built environment and the quality of life in Hong Kong. Sepia Design Consultants are proud to be regular contributors of thought-provoking designs and ideas to this platform in an effort to improve Hong Kong’s quality of life.

HONG KONG NEIGHBORHOOD RECYCLING CENTER

Minimizing the export of waste to our landfills

Like many other areas of the world, Hong Kong is drowning in waste.  In February 2014,  Sepia Design Consultants Limited created and proposed a neighborhood recycling center prototype to community leaders and the HKSAR Government.  Instead of the current system of refuse collection centers throughout Hong Kong, which involves direct transport of waste to the territory’s three overflowing landfills, this proposal proposes the creation of new one-stop satellite recycling and recovery centers at the community level, in order to divert as much material as possible away from the landfills.

COMMUNITY DESIGN CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Helping to create mutually beneficial outcomes

Sepia Design Consultants Limited donated their services to intervene in a contentious time-sensitive proposal to decommission a popular golf course in Auckland, New Zealand by creating a win-win solution of modifying the golf course design to include new water features and shortened fairways to increase the storm water retention capacity of the existing course, while retaining the overall course par rating. The pro bono proposal was adopted by the golf course operator and further refined by a local golf course design specialist for submission to Auckland Council.
