Space Architecture in Schools

Auckland, New Zealand, 10 June, 2025 ————– Thomas Schmidt, founder of Sepia Design Consultants Limited, was invited to deliver a lecture of his award-winning Lunar Habitat to a group of GATE (Gifted & Talented Student Program) students at Auckland’s prestigious Kristin School. Middle and high school students were tasked with designing a human habitat in various locations throughout the solar system, which dovetailed with Schmidt’s experience in space architecture.

Schmidt discussed his proposal, and outlined the many challenges relative to off-world hazards, construction issues, and transport to tomorrow’s thinkers and leaders. Kristin School has a strong academic record and a reputation for excellence in New Zealand, including a 100% pass rate in the IB Diploma and 97% of students achieving University Entrance in 2024.
