1 June 2026, Auckland — Thomas Schmidt, founder of Sepia Design Consultants Limited, won an Observational Award of Excellence for his hand drawn travel sketch of an historic structure in Bangkok, Thailand.
Organized by the American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI), the 40th Anniversary Architecture in Perspective Competition will display winning entries at the AIA Global Campus in Washington DC, USA, on 7-9 October 2026.
As an avid urban sketcher, Schmidt remarked, “This is a great reminder of why I put a pen to paper to capture the world around me.”
Schmidt is author and illustrator of an award-winning book series, which includes The Bumbling Traveler: Sketching the World, which highlights hand drawn sketch techniques.
